Japanese-German Graduate Externship
Energy Conversion Systems: From Materials to Devices

JSPS Japanese-German Graduate Externship Program joint seminar was held in Germany. (January.19・20・25・26, 2024)

Nagoya Institute of Technology and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) jointly held the annual “Energy Systems School II” in Germany, featuring two days of lectures and poster presentations in Bayreuth, followed by two additional days of exercises and experiments at the Faculty of Engineering of FAU in Erlangen. Approximately 60 faculty members and students from both institutions participated in the program.

The seminar included an invited lecture by Professor Marin Alexe from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, project meetings, and a cultural program exploring the city of Bayreuth, renowned for the Wagner Festival. Furthermore, this year’s schedule included the evaluation meeting for the renewal of the International Research Training Groups program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), which took place on the 23rd and 24th of January. Faculty and students engaged in intensive preparation for their review presentations and Q&A sessions, providing all participants with firsthand experience of research activities at the forefront of the field.

The next joint seminar is scheduled to take place in the Nagoya area in the winter of 2025, where we look forward to welcoming FAU members once again.
