An orientation and Student Exchange Meeting was held for participants in the Joint Degree Doctoral Program in Energy Conversion Systems and the JGGE Program. Students based in Japan who joined the new program in April, FAU students currently studying in Japan, and JGGE students all came together for the session.
After self‑introductions, Professor Ogata provided an overview of the program, followed by Professor Hayakawa’s remarks on the importance of the Monthly Meeting. Professor Martin then led a workshop on Japanese – German cultural perspectives, which continued into small‑group discussions.
The event then moved to a lounge offering panoramic views of Nagoya, where participants enjoyed light refreshments while exchanging information and getting to know one another.
For students who belong to different laboratories and rarely have the chance to meet face‑to‑face, the Student Exchange Meeting provided a valuable opportunity to connect, share perspectives, and build a sense of community across programs.
